The damp of the lagoon was hard on frescoes, so the city's confraternities commissioned teleri: huge canvases, several metres long, on which Carpaccio, Gentile Bellini and Tintoretto painted the miracles, processions and legends of Venice. The Gallerie dell'Accademia still keeps Carpaccio's Legend of Saint Ursula, nine canvases that Venetians stood in front of the way we sit in front of a screen.

Teleri is the screen as a painting. Instead of glass ornament it has a deep, moulded wooden frame with a silver finish, worked by hand, around a Murano glass mirror of 125 × 175 cm with a 52-inch screen behind it. Switched off, it reads as a large silver-framed mirror; switched on, the picture appears inside the frame like a canvas. Its clean lines sit as well in a contemporary living room as in a classic one.

It belongs above a fireplace, in a living room, in a master bedroom or in a hotel suite. Each piece is made to order around the screen, so the frame can be built for a different size, and the colours can be changed: ask us and we will prepare a bespoke quote.

Teleri is handmade in Murano by Fratelli Tosi, a family glassworks founded in the early 1900s by Romano Tosi and known worldwide for its Venetian mirrors and Murano glass furniture.
