Venice was built on spice. For centuries the Republic held the keys to the routes from the East, and pepper — grain for grain worth silver — filled her warehouses and her coffers. Pepper the chandelier carries that exotic warmth: a classic Venetian form in six or eight lights, made to glow in amber, red or gold like a spice market lit at dusk.

Mouth-blown and assembled by hand on the island of Murano, arm by arm, in any colour — weeks of patient work, and never twice the same.
