Ghibli takes its name from the hot desert wind that carries the Sahara across the Mediterranean — and it looks the part. Warm amber glass glows like late desert light, gathered inside a thick skin of clear crystal, while at the base a scatter of dark, smoky flecks drifts upward like embers, or grains of sand caught mid-flight. It is warmth and shadow in a single piece.
Ghibli is built in sommerso, the Murano technique of submerging a core of colour within layers of clear crystal, so the amber seems to float deep inside the glass rather than sit on its surface. The black mottling at the base is set by hand into the hot glass — no two clouds of flecks ever fall the same way. Mouth-blown and shaped entirely by hand on the island of Murano by masters who have inherited seven centuries of Venetian glassmaking, each vase is one of a kind.
This fuller, rounded olive silhouette holds the amber low and wide.
