The orata — sea bream — is the fish of the Venetian lagoon itself, the one that has fed the city since before it had palaces. This sculpture gives that everyday fish a little grandeur: twenty-two centimetres of bicolour glass, body arched as if turning in shallow water, catching light along the flank exactly where a real bream catches it.
Shaped free-hand at the furnace from molten glass, fins and tail drawn out with tools that have not changed in centuries. Every piece carries its own small differences — the mark of a sculpture made by hand, not by machine.
