Tirigiro — Murano Glass Vase
Part vase, part bowl, part sculpture — and impossible to place without smiling. Tirigiro is a rounded pebble of Murano glass, low and wide like a spinning top caught mid-turn, pierced by circular openings that stare back like calm, concentric eyes. Designed by Studio Design Juice, it was made to be lived with from every angle: stand it up as a vase, lay it down as a bowl, or set it at the centre of a table as a piece of pure Venetian play.
Its magic is in the walls. Layer upon layer of cased Murano glass — warm tobacco, soft milk-white and deep black — are fused one inside the other, so that each circular opening cuts through the layers like the cross-section of a giant glass bead, revealing perfect concentric rings of colour. Mouth-blown and shaped entirely by hand on the island of Murano by masters who have inherited seven centuries of glassmaking, no two pieces align their rings in quite the same way.
Choose the warm Tobacco colourway or its inverse, dramatic Black — one glows like amber, the other reads like graphite and ivory. Either way, Tirigiro is a rare thing: a serious feat of Murano craft that never takes itself too seriously.
