Choosing a Murano Glass Table Lamp
A blown base, lit from within
A Murano table lamp is a piece of sculpture that happens to hold a bulb: the base is blown by mouth, often in sommerso layers or with gold leaf sealed inside, so the colour deepens as soon as the light goes on. Where to put it
Beside a bed, the shade should sit roughly at shoulder height when you are sitting up, so the light falls on the page and not in your eyes. On a console or sideboard, a pair at either end frames whatever hangs above. In a dark corner, a lamp does more for the room than any ceiling fixture. Floor lamps and sconces can be made in the same colour.

Does it come ready to plug in?
Lamps are supplied wired to European standards. If you are ordering from outside Europe, tell us your country first: we will confirm plug and fittings, or tell you plainly if a local electrician has to change them.
Can it be dimmed?
The glass places no limit — dimming depends on the bulb and the dimmer. With a dimmable LED and a compatible dimmer it lowers beautifully, and low light is where Murano colour is at its best.
How do I clean it?
Unplug it first, then dust the glass with a dry microfibre cloth; for marks use a cloth barely damp with water and a drop of neutral soap. Never spray liquid near the fitting, and never use ammonia or solvents.
