Six Signs of Authentic Murano Glass
The Master's Signature
Genuine Murano pieces are signed or marked by the artisan or the furnace that made them. Every creation we sell is traced back to the Murano furnace that produced it.
Certificate of Authenticity
Each work is issued a numbered certificate documenting its origin, its technique and a unique reference you can check at any time.
Unique Imperfections
Tiny bubbles, irregular lines and one-of-a-kind variations are the fingerprint of mouth-blown glass — never found in machine-made copies.
Depth of Colour
Authentic Murano colours are created with mineral oxides fused into the glass, giving a brilliance and depth that printed imitations cannot match.
Weight & Solidity
Hand-worked Murano glass has a reassuring weight and a flawless, cool-to-the-touch finish that reflects hours of furnace work.
Murano Provenance
True Murano glass is made only on the island of Murano, Venice. Beware of mass-produced imitations sold as 'Murano style'.
Vetro Artistico® Murano — the Region’s Official Trademark
In 1994, the Veneto Region created the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark by law — Regional Law no. 70 — as the only official certification that a glass work was genuinely made on the island of Murano, using its traditional techniques.
Only licensed Murano furnaces may apply the trademark label. Each label carries the identification code of the furnace that made the piece, and it is engineered to destroy itself if removed — it can never be peeled off and reused on another object.
Membership is voluntary, and some of Murano's most respected furnaces choose to guarantee their work in other ways — so the label is one strong signal among several, together with provenance, technique and documentation.
For us this is not an abstract standard: our glass is produced by a Murano furnace that is itself registered to the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark. Every piece is blown on the island, in a licensed workshop, and reaches you with our Certificate of Authenticity — a reference you can verify at any time.
