What we examine

The technique: sommerso, murrina, aventurine, gold leaf, filigree.
Signatures, engravings and labels, including the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark.
The marks of handwork: the pontil mark, bubbles, small irregularities.
The signs of imitation: moulds, seam lines, industrial glass.

What you receive

A written opinion explaining what points to an authentic piece and what casts doubt on it, with the likely technique, period and furnace whenever they can be recognised.

An opinion, not a certificate

Authenticity cannot be established with absolute certainty from photographs. Ours is a reasoned opinion based on experience: it is not a certificate, nor an appraisal valid for insurers or courts, nor a valuation.

The only official mark of origin is Vetro Artistico® Murano. The fee covers the analysis and is not refundable, even when the photos do not allow a conclusive opinion: in that case we tell you plainly and, where useful, ask for more photos.

Questions

Will you also tell me what the piece is worth?

No. The opinion covers only the authenticity and origin of the piece: we do not give valuations.

Can I send several pieces?

Each request covers one piece. For several pieces, send one request for each.

What if the photos are not enough?

We write to ask for more photos. If it is still not possible to give an opinion, we tell you why: the fee still covers the analysis.

What happens to my photos?

We use them only for the opinion. They stay attached to your order and we never publish them without your permission.
