AUTHENTIC VENETIAN MURANO GLASS

Bracelets

Murano glass bracelets — wearable art for the wrist, hand-crafted on the island of Murano, Venice. Glass beads lampworked one by one and strung into bracelets that turn an ordinary gesture into something worth watching — from bold statement spheres to little everyday jewels of colour.

Each bead is shaped at the flame by Murano master glassmakers, so no two are ever identical. Every piece arrives with a certificate of authenticity and fully insured worldwide shipping.

Choosing a Murano Glass Bracelet

One bead, one flame

Each bead on these bracelets was made on its own: a coloured rod melted over the flame and wound onto a mandrel, then decorated while still glowing with gold leaf, avventurina — glass seeded with copper crystals that catch the light — or slices of millefiori cane. Only after slow cooling is the bead strung. That is why a Murano bracelet has weight and depth of colour that printed or resin imitations never reach.

Size, weight and fit

Bead bracelets sit differently depending on bead size: large spheres look best with a little movement on the wrist, small beads closer to the skin. The measurements of every piece are on its product page — measure your wrist with a strip of paper and compare before ordering. If you are between sizes, or want the same design longer or shorter, write to us before buying and we will ask the workshop what is possible.

Wearing and storing

Put the bracelet on after perfume and hand cream, and take it off before swimming, showering or the gym. Stored loose in a bag, beads knock against keys and coins and can chip; keep it flat in its box. A soft cloth, barely damp, is all the cleaning glass needs — see the care guide. Matching necklaces and earrings are in the same collection.

Venetian glass bracelets, by another name

Search for Venetian glass bracelets and you are looking for these: the name comes from the city, while Murano names the island where the Republic sent its furnaces in 1291. One object, two names.

What separates a real one from a souvenir is visible in the bead, not the clasp. Glass worked at the flame keeps tiny asymmetries — a bead is never perfectly round, colour sits at different depths, and a millefiori slice never repeats exactly. Moulded resin copies are flawless, identical to each other, and much lighter in the hand.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know my size?

Wrap a strip of paper around your wrist, mark where it meets and measure it flat: that is your wrist measurement. Compare it with the length given on the product page and allow one to two centimetres of comfort for larger beads.

Can the bracelet be shortened or lengthened?

Often yes, since every piece is made by hand. Ask us before ordering: we check with the workshop and confirm what can be changed and when it could be ready. Bespoke work is described on our custom commissions page.

Can I wear it every day?

Yes. Murano glass beads are solid and do not fade, tarnish or lose colour with wear. The one thing they dislike is a hard knock against stone, tile or metal.

Is it really made in Murano?

Yes, and each bracelet arrives with a certificate of authenticity you can check online. If you want to judge for yourself, our guide to recognising authentic Murano glass explains what to look at first.

How can I tell a real Venetian glass bracelet from a copy?

Weigh it and look closely. Real glass is cool and noticeably heavy for its size, and each bead carries small irregularities in shape and colour because it was shaped by hand over a flame. Copies in resin or pressed glass are light, warm to the touch and perfectly uniform. Every bracelet we send carries a certificate naming Murano as its origin.
