Bolle — Murano Glass Vase
Bolle — "bubbles" — catches the most fleeting thing in the world and makes it last: a soap bubble, a drop of water, the perfect round swell of glass at the very moment it leaves the blowpipe. Designed by Stefano Poletti, it is a sphere of luminous violet Murano glass, its surface ribbed by soft vertical drops that run from crown to base like rain sliding down a globe — part fruit, part planet, part pure play of light.
Those drops are the heart of the piece. Each rib is a thread of molten glass drawn down the body entirely by hand while the sphere is still soft, catching the light along its length and giving the round form a gentle, lobed rhythm — like a pumpkin, a water droplet, a bubble about to lift. There is no mould for a gesture like this; it lives on the maestro's timing, so no two spheres wear their drops the same way.
Mouth-blown and shaped entirely by hand on the island of Murano by masters who have inherited seven centuries of Venetian glassmaking, Bolle glows a deep, clear violet that turns almost liquid in daylight. Choose the larger sphere as a bold centrepiece, or the smaller as its quiet companion — one alone is a jewel, the pair a family of light.
