Marquise — Murano Glass Vase
Named for the diamond cut it borrows, Marquise is worked while cold rather than hot — deep, angular facets ground and polished into the surface after the glass has fully cooled, in smoke-grey crystal that catches light the way a cut gemstone does rather than a blown one.
It is a slower, more painstaking finish than most Murano work, closer to lapidary cutting than glassblowing, and the largest size stands half a metre tall.
