Moon Fish — Murano Glass Sculpture
The moon fish is all disc and edge — a flat silver coin of a creature that the Muranese have loved for generations precisely because it is so hard to make. Held upright on its fin, thirty-five centimetres of bicolour glass, it reads almost as an abstract sculpture until the light hits and the fish reappears.
It is worked from a single gather, flattened and drawn out by hand while glowing, then fused to its base. The two colours meet in a soft gradient that can never be repeated exactly — the signature of glass shaped by hand rather than pressed in a mould.
