Cat — Murano Glass Sculpture
Venice is a city of cats. They own the quiet campi, they sleep on the warm stone of the bridges, and for centuries they earned their keep in the warehouses along the canals. This one is eighteen centimetres of glass, sitting upright with that particular feline patience — the pose every cat holds when it has decided to ignore you.
Sculpted free-hand at the furnace from a single gather, the tail curled around the body while the glass was still molten. Simple in outline, which leaves nowhere for a mistake to hide.
