Ludovico Manin was the last Doge of Venice — the man who, in 1797, laid down the ring of a thousand-year Republic. His name carries the melancholy grace of an ending, of one last, perfect evening. Manin the chandelier has that refined restraint: a poised six-light Venetian form, curved arms and hand-blown blossoms, elegant rather than enormous.
Mouth-blown and assembled by hand on the island of Murano, arm by arm — no moulds, weeks of work, and never twice the same. The quiet grandeur of the last of the doges, for a room that prefers elegance to excess.
