DESCRIPTION

Venetian Goblet — Murano Glass

The Venetian goblet is the object that made Murano famous across Europe. By the sixteenth century, courts from London to Vienna were paying extraordinary sums for glass this thin and this clear, and the Republic guarded the recipe so jealously that glassmakers were forbidden to leave the lagoon.

Standing twenty-two centimetres, each goblet is blown by mouth and assembled in three parts — bowl, stem and foot — joined by hand while all three are still molten. Choose from three classic profiles, or the olive stem, its shaft swelling into a single elongated knop. For a table set for a real occasion.

  • Mouth-blown on the island of Murano, stem and foot joined by hand
  • Slight variations in height and colour confirm it was made by hand
  • Certificate of authenticity included
