Giungla — Murano Glass Bowl

The same jungle, opened wide. Giungla in bowl form is a low, generous vessel of opaque Murano glass, its walls swept with feathered ribbons of green, red, gold and blue — a whole tropical canopy folded into a single sweep of glass, meant to sit at the centre of a table and pull every eye toward it.

The polychromy is built from colori in pasta, solid coloured glass combed by hand with an iron tool while molten, dragging the colours into the feathered "penne" pattern Murano has prized for centuries. It is fast, irreversible work — seconds to draw the jungle before the glass sets — so no two bowls are ever the same. Mouth-blown and shaped entirely by hand by masters who have inherited seven centuries of Venetian glassmaking.

Left empty it is pure sculpture; filled with fruit or floating a candle, it becomes the glowing heart of a dining table or console.
