Segreti — Murano Glass Centerpiece
Every Venetian table keeps a secret at its centre. For centuries, the banquets of the Republic were crowned with Murano glass — and the recipes behind those colours were guarded like affairs of state, forbidden to leave the island, whispered from father to son over the fire. Segreti carries that inheritance in the shape of a single, sweeping gesture: eighty centimetres of hand-blown glass stretched into a low, open vessel, its satin skin shading from burning orange to warm amber like the last stroke of sun across a lagoon.
The sfumato is the island's quietest art — one molten colour dissolved into another inside the glass itself, without seam or line, judged entirely by the maestro's eye. Stretching a piece this long from a single gather of glass is a feat of timing and breath; the satin veil is then laid over it by hand, pass after pass. No mould could make this form, and none exists: each centrepiece keeps a gradient that will never be repeated.
Set it down the middle of a dining table and it needs nothing else — empty, it is a stroke of late sunlight; filled with fruit or floating candles, it becomes the quiet stage of the evening. It pairs naturally with the Segreti vases, cut from the same sunset — the trio together turn a table into a Venetian still life.
