Collector Pieces
Above €500 Murano glass stops being decoration and becomes collecting. These are the larger vases and sculptures: pieces that take days at the furnace, several masters working in sequence, and techniques that cannot be rushed — heavy sommerso bodies, filigree, battuto surfaces ground by hand. At this size a single mistake means starting again, which is why so few workshops still make them.
Every piece in this band is one of a kind: mouth-blown without moulds, so it can never be repeated exactly. It arrives documented with a certificate of authenticity that records its origin and technique, packed in protective luxury packaging and shipped fully insured and tracked worldwide. Our care guide explains how to keep it flawless for decades, and you can always write to us for extra photos before you decide.
Collector Pieces in Murano Glass
What changes above €500
At this level a piece is no longer made by one person in a few minutes. Large sculptures, elaborate chandeliers and mirrors take a team at the furnace, several heats and a slow annealing that can run for a day or more. Complexity is the cost: every applied flower, every fused layer is another chance for the whole piece to fail — which is why so few workshops still attempt them.
Buying at this level
Take the time to ask. We can tell you how a piece was made, what the workshop can change and how long a variation would take, and we would rather talk you out of the wrong piece than sell it. Everything here is documented and insured in transit; our guide to value in Murano glass explains what the market actually rewards.
Frequently asked questions
Will it hold its value?
Large, complex, well-documented work tends to hold value better than small decorative pieces — but nobody can promise appreciation, and we do not. Buy what you want to live with.
Can I commission something similar in another size?
Usually yes. Send the model, the dimensions and the colours through custom commissions; we come back with feasibility, price and a production window.
How is a piece of this value protected in transit?
Custom crate, each element wrapped separately, full insurance and tracking to the door. For the largest works we agree the delivery arrangements with you before shipping.
