Segreti — Murano Glass Round Vase
In 1291 the Venetian Republic moved every furnace to the island of Murano — and locked the door behind them. For centuries the recipes of the glass masters were guarded like affairs of state: forbidden to leave the island, passed from father to son in whispers over the fire. Segreti — "secrets" — wears that history on its skin. A soft satin surface that keeps its light inside rather than giving it away, and a sfumato of burning orange melting into warm amber that never confesses where one colour ends and the other begins.
The shading is the island's quietest art: one molten colour dissolved into another inside the glass itself, no seam and no line, judged entirely by the maestro's eye at the mouth of the furnace. The satin veil is then laid over the surface by hand, pass after pass, until the glass takes on the warmth of terracotta at sunset. Shaped without moulds by masters who have inherited seven centuries of Venetian glassmaking, each piece guards a gradient that will never be repeated — a secret kept, even from its makers.
This full round companion holds the sunset low and wide. And for the dining table, the family is completed by the Segreti centrepiece, eighty centimetres of the same burning sfumato.
