Tail up over the back, paws together — the squirrel is caught in the one pose everybody recognises. Eight and a half centimetres of millefiori glass, hundreds of hand-cut flowers fused into a single body and shaped at the flame.
That curled tail has to be drawn out and set before the glass stiffens, which is why no two squirrels curl quite the same way.
Made by hand on the island of Murano, Venice using the millefiori technique, unchanged since the Renaissance.
