The swan is the elegant one of the set — twelve centimetres, neck drawn up in a single curve, body a mosaic of hand-cut murrine. Drawing that neck out of a body packed with fused glass flowers, without dragging the pattern out of shape, is the whole difficulty of the piece.
Made one at a time at the flame, in the Murano workshops where the technique was invented.
Made by hand on the island of Murano, Venice using the millefiori technique, unchanged since the Renaissance.
