Marte — Murano Glass Vase
A small planet, caught at the moment of its dawn. Marte — "Mars" — is a perfect sphere of Murano glass whose colour burns from deep ruby at one pole to warm gold at the other, the way the red planet glows at the edge of its own horizon. The surface is veiled in a soft hand-satin finish, so the colour does not shine — it radiates, like heat rising from red sand. At the top, a round mouth rimmed in clear crystal opens like a crater of light.
The gradient is no glaze and no paint: it is sfumato, the Murano art of letting one molten colour dissolve into another inside the glass itself, judged entirely by eye at the mouth of the furnace. Blown without moulds by masters who have inherited seven centuries of Venetian glassmaking, each sphere carries its own atmosphere — the drift from ruby to gold settles differently on every piece, and no two planets ever share the same sky.
Marte comes in three diameters: a commanding large sphere and two smaller moons that orbit it. Alone on a console it is a quiet eruption of colour; grouped, they become a solar system. And if your collection already holds Disko, our satin amethyst moon, the two were made to share a room — one cool, one burning.
